Messe pour Notre Dame

British concert organist and composer David Briggs will accompany the Cathedral Choir in the Midwest premier of his Messe pour Notre Dame and other works. David’s brilliant improvisations will be interspersed with the choral movements.

Admission is a suggested $10 donation at the door.

Organist John Scott

John ScottFriday, February 22, 2013; 7:30 p.m.

John Scott has been the Organist and Director of Music at Saint Thomas Church, New York, since 2004, previously having served Saint Paul Cathedral, London, for twenty five years. His Columbus appearance will be on the heels of a recital at the Leipzig Gewandhaus. Dr. Scott is recognized as one of the world’s foremost choir trainers and concert organists.

Organ and Orchestra

Roberta GarySunday, February 3, 2013; 3 p.m.

Roberta Gary, Professor of Organ at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and the Cathedral Organists will be joined by the Cathedral Chamber Orchestra in a program of works by Handel, Haydn, Bach, Mozart, and others.

Admission is a suggested $10 donation at the door.

Organist Mel Butler

Mel ButlerSunday, October 28, 2012; 3 p.m.

Dr. Mel Butler has just completed his twentieth year as director of Music at Seattle’s Cathedral of Saint Mark where he plays the famous Flentrop organ. He holds the Doctor of Musical arts degree from the Eastman School of Music and has served on the faculty of the University of Washington. He will play a program of works by Bach, Tournemire, Howells, and movements from Messiaen’s Messe de la Pentecôte.

Parish Musicians

Parish MusiciansSunday, September 23, 2012; 3 p.m.

The directors of music from five churches in the Diocese of Columbus will share a program highlighting the excellent music-making going on in parishes. Organists Sharon Silleck (Saint Cecilia), Carol Ann Bradley (Our Lady of Victory), John Bryan (Saint Paul), and Dale Beaver (Immaculate Conception) will be joined by Larry Griffin (Saint Timothy) and professor of trumpet at Ohio Wesleyan University.
