The evening is marked by the gradual extinction of candles, culminating in the performance of Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere in a completely darkened Cathedral.
“Ohio Mourns: The Music of Abraham Lincoln’s 1865 Columbus Funeral Observances”The Cathedral Schola will join musicologist Thomas J. Kernan, the leading scholarly authority on the musical memorialization of Abraham Lincoln, for a lecture recital exploring the hymns, songs, and rituals employed for the late president’s obsequies in downtown Columbus. This event coincides with Ohio’s commemoration of the U.S. Civil War Sesquicentennial.
Admission is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.
