Wayne Lawson Memorial Organ Scholar (2026-2027 season)
Gege Bi was born in China into a family of pianists and began studying the piano at the age of four.
She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, where she studied with Professor Yuan Shen. She pursued her Master of Music studies in Organ Performance at the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Professor David Higgs.
In addition to her organ studies, she studied Theater Organ and Clavichord with Professor William Porter and Jazz Piano with Professor Tony Caramia.
In 2026, Gege was awarded First Prize in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Organ Scholar Competition in Evanston, Illinois. She currently serves as Organ Scholar at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio, where she contributes to the cathedral’s liturgical music ministry.
