A native of Germany, Felix Hell has been featured as a recitalist and concerto soloist in more than 1,000 concerts throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. He has presented recitals featuring the complete organ works of Bach, most recently in Seoul, Korea. Felix Hell studied at the Juilliard School in New York, the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia (BM), the Peabody Institute in Baltimore (AD, MM, DMA).
A special improvisation recital featuring organist Dr. Richard K. Fitzgerald. Join us as the Cathedral Director of Music presents 14 improvised meditations on the Stations of the Cross.
Dr. Fitzgerald is recognized for his work as an improviser both in the U.S. and abroad, having been the only American invited to participate in the 53rd Haarlem International Organ Improvisation Competition in the Netherlands in summer 2021. In October 2013, he won first prize in the 2nd Annual Competition in Organ Improvisation sponsored by the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In addition, Dr. Fitzgerald was a finalist in the 2021 National Competition in Organ Improvisation sponsored by the American Guild of Organists.
The Cathedral Schola’s annual presentation of music for Tenebrae, featuring motets of Gesualdo and Tallis’ Lamentations of Jeremiah, has become one of the Cathedral’s most popular events. The evening is marked by the gradual extinction of candles, culminating in the performance of Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere in a completely darkened Cathedral.
Those who have generously supported the work of Cathedral Music will be invited to a private concert and reception in their honor. Winner of the 2019 AGO/Quimby Regional Competition for Young Organists, Noah Klein is gaining a reputation for being one of the most talented organists of his generation. This recital presentation is co-sponsored with the American Guild of Organists, Columbus Chapter.
Amanda Mole is one of the leading concert organists of her generation and the winner of numerous international competitions, including first-prize at the 8th International Musashino-Tokyo Organ Competition (2017), first-place and audience prize at the Miami International Organ Competition (2016), and first-place at the Arthur Poister Organ Competition (2014), and John Rodland Memorial Organ Competition (2014). She has performed at venues across the USA, Europe, and Japan and featured in recital at conventions of the American Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society. She has a solo recording released in 2019 on the Naxos label.
Principal Organist and Assistant Director of Music of St. Joseph Cathedral since 2017, Nicole Simental marks her third performance on the Cathedral’s concert series. Winner of the Fourth International Goedicke Organ Competition at the Moscow Conservatory in Moscow, Russia and co-winner at the First Sursa American Organ Competition at Ball State University, Miss Simental is a candidate for the Doctorate of Music in organ performance at Indiana University where she studied with Dr. Christopher Young.
The Cathedral Choir will present Fauré’s Requiem in honor of the Feast of All Souls. The work will be sung in the context of a liturgy. Dr. Richard K. Fitzgerald, conductor; Dr. Nicole Simental, organist.
The Cathedral Choir and Cathedral Brass mark the season with their annual presentation of Lessons and Carols. The afternoon will include works by various composers as well as familiar carols.

Laver frequently performs solo organ recitals in the United States and Europe. In 2010 she was awarded second prize in the American Guild of Organists’ National Young Artist Competition in Organ Performance (NYACOP). She has been a featured recitalist at numerous conventions, including the Eastman Rochester Organ Initiative Festival, the Organ Pedagogy Conference of the American Guild of Organists, the Society for Seventeenth-Century Music, and the Region I & II Convention of the American Guild of Organists.
