The Cathedral Choir and Cathedral Brass mark the season with their annual presentation of Lessons and Carols, including works by Langlais, Verdi, and Mathias as well as familiar carols sung by all.

Admission is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.

Advent WreathSunday, December 13, 2015 at 3 p.m.

The Cathedral Choir and soloists from the ensemble will join forces with the Cathedral Brass for a program of works for Advent and Christmas. Featuring a selection of pieces by Tavener, Palestrina, Rheinberger, and more, this year’s concert has something for all lovers of great sacred music. The audience will also have the opportunity to sing the great carols of the season with orchestra and organs.

Lessons and Carols

The Cathedral Choir and Cathedral Brass present their annual program of music for Advent and Christmas. Scripture readings are juxtaposed with choral music to tell the story of the Christ child from the foretelling by the prophets to the visit of the Magi. The audience also has the opportunity to join the choir, brass, and organs in singing the traditional carols of the season.

Music for Brass and Organ

Saint Joseph Cathedral’s spacious Gothic architecture provides a spectacular setting for hearing music performed by brass ensemble. The resident organists and Cathedral Brass will perform Widor’s Salvum fac populum, Vierne’s Marche triomphale, and other works for this spectacular combination of forces.
